New HMRC advisory fuel rates released

The latest advisory fuel rates (AFRs) have been published by the HMRC, which come into effect 1 September.

For the first time the advisory electricity rate (AER) for plug-in cars is included and will be 4ppm (per mile).

Petrol cars with an engine size of 1,400cc or less increases by 1ppm, from 11-12ppm.

The rate for petrol cars with an engine size from 1,401cc to 2,000cc also increases by 1ppm, from 14-15ppm.

The remaining petrol rate for cars, with an engine of more than 2,000cc, remains unchanged.

The rate for diesel cars, with an engine size from 1,601cc to 2,000cc, increases by 1p ppm from 11-12ppm.

There is also a 1ppm decrease for LPG vehicles above 2,000cc, from 14-13ppm. All other LPG rates remain unchanged.  

There are no other changes in the other rates.
