Best in Fleet honoured at GreenFleet Awards Ceremony

News

Edgbaston Stadium played host to the 18th Annual GreenFleet Awards on the 22 October 2015 sponsored by Green Motion.

The winners were announced during a successful evening hosted by comedian, Jo Caulfield. Manufacturers, fleet solutions providers, private and public sector joined together to celebrate the very best of the UK’s fleet industry.

Winners included Toyota who have already led from the front in producing the world’s best-selling hybrid, and now they are looking to do the same with their hydrogen fuel cell car. The ‘Industry Innovation’ award was awarded to Toyota.

The most competitive category this year was the “Fleet Car Manufacturer of the Year”. With a new hatchback introduced earlier in the year that produces just 89 grams per kilometre, and their class-leading saloon with its facelift, achieving an impressive 74 miles per gallon… This year the “Fleet Car Manufacturer of the Year” award went to BMW.

The 2015 ‘Outstanding Achievement’ GreenFleet Award recognised a massive contribution to what can only be described as a ‘revolution in the plug-in vehicle market’. This vehicle has already helped shape the future of Plug-In Vehicle adoption in the UK in such a short space of time, and as a result, the 2015 ‘Outstanding Achievement’ Award was awarded to Mitsubishi for the Outlander PHEV which has also recently been revised and updated.

This has been a challenging year, with vehicle emissions at the forefront of the news. It is not clear what the full implications are yet, but it is with certainty that this industry will respond, positively, as it always has when confronted with difficulties.

2015 also represents another important year for electric vehicles and GreenFleet has heard about the many developments with electric vehicles from both fleets and the wider industry. To support this GreenFleet will continue our regional roll out of electric vehicle events. These will mirror the Go Ultra Low City Scheme winners, so GreenFleet is waiting, like many of you, for the outcome of the bids before confirming the locations. But rest assured, GreenFleet will confirm these details before the end of the year.
