Slough gains funding for electric taxi charge points

News

Slough Borough Council could soon see low emission taxis on their roads after the council secured government funding for electric charge points.

A bid was made for £157,000 by the council in order to provide seven charge points specifically for low emission cabs.

The council has also stated that they will match the funding in order to reduce emissions and improve air equality.

In addition to this, licensing rules will also be changed in order to encourage the drivers of older and more polluting vehicles to switch to electric models.

The rapid-charging points are expected to be installed throughout 2018 and 2019.
