No figures in Nissan's Brexit reassurance letter, says Independent

According to the Independent, the letter the Government sent to Nissan to reassure the car maker regarding Brexit contained no figure relating to how much the company might be compensated.

The letter, which Ministers refused to publish for reasons of commercial sensitivity, was based solely on reassurances that Nissan would not lose out from Brexit, according to the Independent.

After receiving the letter in October last year, Nissan announced that it was investing in new models - Qashqai and X-Trail SUV ranges - at the Sunderland factory.

However, speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Nissan chief executive Carlos Ghosn said the firm would want to “re-evaluate the situation” once the final Brexit deal is concluded.
