Rushmoor Borough Council has had its first Rapid Charger installed by GeniePoint Network.

The installation will provide electric vehicle drivers in the area with convenient, rapid charging in the heart of Farnborough in Hampshire.

The charger is directly connected to ChargePoint Services’, GeniePoint Network, which across Hampshire already has 20 Rapid and Fast chargers available for public use, it can be accessed by drivers either by mobile web App, or RFID card, and provides 50kW charging for both AC & DC vehicles, capable of recharging an electric vehicle in just 20-40 minutes.

The Rapid Charger is situated in the Queensmead Car Park in the very centre of Farnborough next to the Kingsmead Shopping Mall and Queensmead pedestrian shopping centres.

Les Murrell, energy & environment manager for Rushmoor Borough Council, said: “This is an excellent facility for electric vehicle drivers in the Rushmoor area, not only are we encouraging drivers to use cleaner, greener forms of transportation, but equally supporting retailers in our high streets, by providing an easy and convenient place to stop and charge whilst shopping or enjoying the many cafes and restaurants in the area.”
