Citroen has unveiled its C5 Aircross at the Shanghai Auto Show, with the SUV set to become the company's first plug-in hybrid model.

It is set to be the Citroen’s most powerful car, with 300hp produced by a combination of a 200hp petrol engine, and two electric motors.

It will have an electric range of 37 miles and will be the first model designed from the ground up under the Citroen Advanced Comfort programme.

This is expected to offer a new suspension system and is set to enter the SUV market in Europe next year.
