News

Seat has announced plans to show its first hybrid and electric models in 2019, with official launches scheduled for 2020.

Speaking to Auto Express, Seat confirmed that there are three options on the table: a fully electric version of the Mii, a plug-in hybrid Leon or an all-new bespoke electric vehicle.

Lucas Casasnovas, head of product marketing at Seat, indicated to Auto Express that electrified versions of the Mii and Leon would be relatively straight forward to develop, as the technology currently exists within the VW Group in the shape of the VW e-Up! and Golf GTE.

If Seat is to pursue the the development of a completely new electric vehicle, then it is expected that this will be developed on the VW Group’s new modular electric build (MEB) platform, which will be first utilised on the production version of the VW ID Concept.
