Norway has seen increased growth in the electric vehicle (EV) sales, which made up 33.5 per cent of the country’s auto market in March 2016.

Norway has made large steps to promote the use of EVs through purchase incentives, free parking and disincentives for fossil fuel vehicles.

According to InsideEVs, out of the total 13,875 cars registered for the month, a record 4,646 were passenger plug-ins. 2,595 of these were pure electric vehicles, along with 2,051 plug-in hybrids.

While the sales volume is not huge, it is relative to the country’s size and represents continued progression for Norway, highlighting the impact of its work to promote cleaner technologies.
