Update boosts the performance of Volvo XC90 T8

Volvo has announced a new generation Polestar Performance Optimisation for its XC90 T8 PHEV, providing increased power with no impact on economy figures.

The manufacturer claims the update makes the vehicle ‘the world’s most powerful and cleanest SUV’, increasing performance by 14hp and 40Nm, bringing total combined output to 421hp and 680Nm.

The increase sees acceleration from 0-62mph drop by one tenth of a second to 5.5 seconds, while reportedly still maintaining the officially quoted fuel consumption of 134.5mpg.

Volvo has said that the improvements do not only optimise the engine performance, but also optimise the entire drive train in five hey areas, improving throttle response, gearshift hold, speed and precision, as well as overall engine performance, which it claims enables the XC90 T8 to reach ‘a new level of driving pleasure’.

Niels Möller, chief operating officer of Polestar, said: “Just a week after the introduction of the S90 and V90 optimisation, we move forward by launching our optimisation for the exciting and technically advanced XC90 T8 Twin Engine. This gives customers who want a new level of driving pleasure with their XC90 an easily accessible and attractive performance increase.”
