POD Point launches bid to ‘fix’ London’s EV charging sites

News

POD Point has launched a campaign to ‘fix’ electric vehicles charging points in London, setting up an online petition to gather support.

As part of its #FixLondonCharging campaign, POD Point is offering to fix and maintain any faulty charging sites within London, at no cost to drivers of boroughs.

POD Point are proposing to replace any other manufacturer’s charging points with its own Open Charge POD Points, which are free to use and do not require an RFID card for access. POD Point has submitted the proposals to all 32 London Boroughs and the City of London, who are invited to a presentation at POD Point’s offices on 24 February.

To help gather support for the plans, POD Point has also launched a change.org petition.

The petition reads: “We are offering to replace any broken or obsolete on-street London Borough charge point (from any manufacturer) with a brand new Open Charge POD Point free of charge with continued maintenance included. This will be at zero cost to both the Borough and EV drivers.

“London is our home. We frequently drive about the city in plug-in vehicles and have the same frustrations as other drivers at the poor state of public charging. We feel strongly that with a well maintained, reliable public network, London can become a world leader in zero emissions transport where air quality is no longer an issue.”
