Switched On Scotland targets adoption of plug-in vehicles

Keith Brown, Minister for Transport and Veterans, has launched Switched On Scotland: A Roadmap to Widespread Adoption of Plug-in Vehicles.

The report sets out a vision that by 2050, Scotland’s towns, cities and communities will be free from the polluting effects of petrol and diesel fumes. Analysis illustrates that electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles will make a substantial contribution to the vision.

Scotland’s world-leading climate change targets and commitments to improve local air quality and noise pollution are the key motivators. The potential economic opportunities and the contribution of plug-in vehicles to Scotland’s renewable energy targets are also recognised.

Many of Switched On Scotland's partners have contributed to the development of the Roadmap, through a series of E-cosse workshops and meetings. Further events in will be staged in the future to talk through the Roadmap's goals in and set out next steps.
