Seat introduces family crossover ‘Ateca’

Seat has introduced the Ateca, a new SUV based on the same platform as the Volkswagen (VW) Tiguan, which will be available with a range of engines, including the fuel efficient 1.0 litre TSI turbo-charged petrol. 

The Ateca marks Seat’s entry into the competitive and increasingly expanding family crossover market and will compete against the likes of Nissan’s Qashqau, the Renault Kadjar, the Mazda CX-3 and VW’s Tiguan.

The 1.0 TSI three-cylinder engine is fitted with cylinder deactivation technology, while a diesel unit will also be available, including 1.6 and 2.0 litre TDI engines. The engines produce emissions of between 112 and 131 g/km CO2 and maintains official fuel economy figures of 56-66 MPG.

The Ateca boasts high levels of connectivity via a combination of Stat systems. It contains full smartphone connectivity, including MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is capable of operating with a number of apps for various functions.

The model also contains a traffic jam assist system will enables the car to steer, accelerate and brake at low speeds autonomously. The technology supports the car with lane-discipline when it is travelling above 37 mph and has adaptive cruise control speed capacities. Other safety features include, traffic sign recognition, blind spot detection, rear cross traffic alert and emergency brake assist.
