Nissan has become an official partner of the EU-backed Fast-E charging infrastructure project.

The project aims to install 241 charging stations across Germany and 37 in Belgium by the end of 2016, along with a sister project looking to install a further 30 across Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The €18 million project has been co-financed by the EU and nine companies, including Nissan, and comes as part of Nissan’s continued investment in supporting the development of electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

Gareth Dunsmore, director of electric vehicles for Nissan Europe, said: “Our investment in this project is another demonstration of Nissan’s commitment to creating intelligent mobility solutions. As well as working on a range of electric vehicles and innovative zero emission technologies, we have also invested heavily in infrastructure, as we see this as an important factor in guaranteeing the accessibility and practicality of electric vehicles.

“It is fantastic to have the backing of the EU on this project, which should drastically improve the number of EV charging facilities across Germany and Belgium’s main motorways.”
