Liverpool is expanding its use of electric vehicles with 28 new charging points being rolled out in the region.

The Evolt charge points, fitted by APT Controls, will benefit residents in the local councils of Liverpool North and South, Halton, Knowsley, Sefton, St Helens and Wirral, with 14 of the chargers available for public use. The remaining half will be for the use of local authorities.

Amy Coulson, Programme Development Officer at Merseytravel, who commissioned the installations, said: “This sets out our commitment to promoting the use of EVs across the region, and this includes installing a charging network for an even greater public take up of environmentally friendly transport. Evolt are helping us deliver this.

“The Liverpool City Region, which includes seven local authorities, is committed to leading by example and has recently been awarded funding by the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) to introduce 23 Ultra Low Emission Vehicles into its fleets over the coming year.”
