The E-Mehari has been developed from the Cactus M concept car, after Citroen fast tracked the programme to get the vehicle into European showrooms by the end of 2016.

The vehicle’s design is inspired by the 1960s Mehari beach buggy and is designed to be a small all electric runaround, with a top speed of 70mph and a range of 125 miles from its 30kWh lithium-polymer battery pack.

Xavier Peugeot, Citreon product planning chief, has said the the convertible buggy is not planned to be a volume seller, but instead an ‘image accelerator’ for the company.
