Google self-driving car project hits two million mile mark

Google’s self-driving car project has reached a major milestone, with its autonomous vehicles logging two million miles on public roads.

Google positioned itself as a leader in autonomous vehicle development when its started developing the self-driving vehicles back in 2009 and is currently logging around 25,000 miles of test drives per week on public roads.

The aim is to develop fully autonomous cars that do not require a driver behind the wheel, and Google has said it is confident this will be achieved by 2020.
