Nottingham to have England’s first electric vehicle-only road lane

The 6 mile ‘Eco-Expressway’ into Nottingham is planned to be completed by late 2017.

The project will see a new cycle route and a road lane for electric vehicles and buses.

A number of electric buses have been ordered to provide services on the Expressway between Gedling, through Colwick and to the eastern side of the city centre.

The Eastern Cycle Corridor will provide a two-way Cycle Superhighway on the north side of the road, segregated from traffic and pedestrians.

In January Nottingham was one of four successful bids to share £40m of government funding to promote use of electric vehicles.
