100 electric car charge points to be installed at Scotland train stations

ScotRail Alliance has announced that 100 electric charge spaces are set to be installed across 50 of its stations.

The charge points will be free to use with the capability to charge two vehicles at the same time.

Construction work for the installation of the chargers is set to start this September, with all 100 being available from November.

The ScotRail Alliance’s programmes and transformation director, Ian McConnell, said: “As a low-carbon transport provider, we are always looking for new ways to encourage more environmentally-friendly travel. Through the installation of these 100 electric car parking spaces, we hope to reduce our customers’ carbon footprint from door-to-door.

“We have big plans to improve our car parks, and this is just one of the many improvements we have planned for the next 12 months.”

Even though the charging will be free to use, customers will still need to pay relevant parking fees.
