Hydrogen refuelling station rollout in Norway

News

NEL Fuel AS has signed an agreement with Uno-X to rollout a minimum of 20 hydrogen refuelling stations throughout Norway.

The scheme between the two Norwegian companies will see a network of hydrogen stations built with hydrogen production onsite, allowing the further adoption of fuel cell electric vehicles across the Scandinavian country’s major cities.

The joint venture, soon to be known as Uno-X Hydrogen AS, will see NEL Fuel AS provide all of the technology required for production, while Uno-X will be the main brand of the project.

Vegar Kulset, CEO of Uno-X, commented: “NEL is in the forefront within hydrogen technology and competence. The world’s leading car manufacturers are investing heavily in hydrogen as their preferred clean energy technology, and large scale rollout of hydrogen vehicles are expected to accelerate from 2016.

“We look forward to contributing to the transition to a low emission society though providing hydrogen refuelling stations to our customers.”

Bjørn Simonsen, director of market development for NEL Fuel AS, stated: “We see this as the start of establishing a real, commercial network of hydrogen refuelling stations in Norway, and are very pleased to team up with the leading Norwegian retail company in realising this.”
