Volkswagen BUDD-e named 2016 Concept Truck of the Year

Volkswagen’s all-electric BUDD-e has been named the 2016 Concept Truck of the Year at the 15th Annual North American Concept Vehicle of the Year Awards.

The award ceremony was held at the Concours d’Elegance of America at St. John’s in Plymouth, Mich. and judges recognised the vehicle for raising the standards of automotive design, with its features addressing mobility needs of the present and the future.

The BUDD-e, which was first unveiled at the CES show in Las Vegas in January 2016, was designed with an innovative focus on driver interface and features gesture, voice and touchscreen controls. It is powered by a 101kWh battery, with a claimed range of up to 233 miles.
