Bavaria to sue VW over emissions scandal

The German state of Bavaria has announced plans to sue Volkswagen (VW) following the ‘dieselgate’ emissions scandal.

According to a report from Reuters, Bavaria owned 58,000 VW preference shares when the news of the emissions test cheating broke and it’s state pension fund for civil servants lost around €700,000 when the shares plummeted.

Bavaria will be the first regional government in Germany to take legal action against the manufacturer, with Finance Minister Markus Soeder saying Baviaria’s pension fund would file a suit in September.
