Scottish government to consult on ULEV parking perks

News

consultation has begun from the Scottish Government on parking, which includes proposals for parking incentives for ULEV drivers

The consultation, which runs until 30 June 2017, calls for opinions on local authority trials and introductions of parking incentives for ULEVs, such as discounted, free or preferential parking.

Other areas up for debate are pavement parking and whether changes need to be made to parking enforcement, including whether to use CCTV and/or Automatic Number Plate Recognition systems for enforcement of parking in areas such as around schools.

Transport Minister, Humza Yousaf said: “The Scottish Government is keen to explore if parking rules can help support wider policy aims and views are being sought on whether more can be done to encourage the use of ultra-low emission vehicles.”
