Apple electric car project ‘Titan’ progress slows

After allowing its head engineer Steve Zadesky to lead Apple’s project Titan, it has been reported that Zadesky has decided to leave the company on account of ‘personal reasons’.

The news comes shortly after a review of the electric car’s blueprint plans were criticised by Apple’s head of design Jony Ive, who was apparently displeased with the group’s progress.

It is thought that there are currently 1,000 people working on Project Titan, in a range of areas including Cupertino and California. Appleinisider also reported that Apple has approached BMW to explore the possibility of using the BMW i3 electric car as the basis for the Apple Car.

The ‘ship date’ for the release of Project Titan is believed to be around 2019, meaning all engineering for the product must have reached completion.

Whilst officially Apple has not confirmed it is working on building its own electric vehicle, Tesla boss Elon Musk has claimed the construction is ‘an open secret’.
