New Low Emission Bus website is launched

Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership (low CVP) has launched the new Low Emission Bus (LEB) website that will run from 2015-2020 to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions from UK bus fleets.

The Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) has allocated £30m to cutting the carbon contribution of road transport and LEB website will help  inform the public by providing details of guidance, funding eligibility and to help bus operators and local authorities source the cleanest bus technologies and stimulate the low and ultra-low emission bus markets.

The new Low Emission Bus Scheme aims to increase the uptake of low and ultra-low emission buses in local authority, reduce the impact of transport on climate change, support the improvement in local air quality and continue to support the UK manufacturing sector and attract investment to the UK.

A LEB must have a Euro 6 certified engine emission levels and produce at least 15% less greenhouse gas emissions on a well-to-wheel (WTW) basis than a Euro 5 bus of the same passenger capacity. WTW incorporates the emissions associated with the production and transportation of the fuel as well as those released from the exhaust of a vehicle.
