The AFP

Company Focus

The Association of Fleet Professionals (AFP) is a not-for-profit body that supports, educates and trains the corporate fleet industry.

With over 1,200 members, we bring people involved in fleets together and promote networking, collaboration and the sharing of best practice. We elevate the standards within our industry, developing both the current and next generation of fleet leaders.

Membership is open to all, and provides the following benefits:

Networking – there are many opportunities to connect with other members including our annual members’ conference, lunches, dinners and forums.  We also have a presence at most industry events/exhibitions and can introduce you to fellow fleet operators. Plus you can directly message other members through the online member directory.

Personal Development and Career Enhancement – our well regarded Fleet Academy courses are industry leading and cover a wide range of topical areas in addition to our core Fleet Vehicle Management courses.

Support – we provide support in many ways. You can post questions on the Members’ Forum to get advice.  We have a fleet operator members' WhatsApp group and hold regular online forums where you can discuss challenges and share experiences.  You can also call or email us with any question.  We also offer a mentoring service.

Mentoring – We can pair you with a member of the Board for a light mentoring service. This is a complimentary service and your mentor will spend up to an hour per month mentoring you. This may be via a monthly 1-2-1 call for example. If you require more extensive mentoring, we can provide a more intensive mentoring service whereby your mentor provides more coaching and support which may include onsite meetings. This is a chargeable service and the cost will depend on the level of support and time required.

Online Members’ Area – our growing Resource Library aims to pool and share best practice and advice – including driver guides, information sheets, useful articles and policies. It’s a great starting point.  You also have the ability to search for and direct message other members, where they have set themselves up in the Member Directory, view past webinars and take part in polls.

Committee membership – we run a number of committees that you can get involved in to help shape the future of fleet and mobility.

Lobbying - representation of members’ views via our lobbying activities and regular dialogue with Government departments and officials.

Use of designatory letters to show you are a member – starting with MAFP.

Supplier Directory - providing information on class leading fleet products and services.

Webinars – We run regular webinars on topical issues.  As a member you can also gain access to all our previous webinars.

Individual and Corporate memberships are available for fleet operators and there are various membership levels for Fleet Service Providers.

The AFP Fleet Academy

The courses are structured to support a wide range of fleet stakeholders including:

  • Fleet administrators and managers
  • HR & finance
  • Fleet service providers
  • Motor manufacturers
  • Contract hire & leasing

We offer both on-line and tutor-led training options, geared to providing flexible and dedicated solutions, that fully meet the needs of the of the participants, whether new to the industry or already established in their roles.

Our current courses include:

The Fleet Vehicle Management Introductory course, designed for anyone who is new to the fleet industry, developing in their role, or who needs a refresher in fleet basics, can be progressed any time online.  This course enables participants to develop their understanding of fleet vehicle management and understand what is involved in developing a fleet policy.

Externally accredited by the IMI, the Fleet Vehicle Management Strategic course is the benchmark standard for those employed in the co-ordination and management of a vehicle fleet.  The course is available face to face or in an online, distant learning format, which can be started at any time.

The Fleet Vehicle Management Advanced course is the ultimate standard in professional fleet management.  This course develops the advanced knowledge and skills required to run complex fleet operations, and is a valuable asset in developing senior fleet management teams.

The recently-launched Accelerate – Women’s Voices in Fleet course is designed to help women in fleet make their voices heard in a corporate environment. Something the AFP feel very passionately about.  This programme shares the toolkit that makes public speaking a skill that can be learnt, honed and repeated whether in a one to one situation or when speaking at a conference in front of many.

The Making The Switch to Electric Vehicles and Transition to eLCV courses are run on demand and can be held face-to-face or online.

We can also design and run bespoke courses for organisations with a specific training need.
